US rejects Japanese talks plan
Mickey Kantor, the US Trade Representative, has rejected a proposal by Japan for talks today on the US threat to impose trade sanctions on imports of luxury cars from Japan. He has proposed that the two sides meet in Washington on 20-21 June. The tariffs are scheduled to take effect at the end of June.
