TROPICAL STORM Floyd formed in the Atlantic yesterday and forecasters expect it to graduate to a hurricane by the end of today.
Floyd's centre was about 1,215 km (755 miles) east of the Leeward Islands and it was moving west-north-west. Winds are expected to reach 74mph, the threshold at which storms become hurricanes, before skirting around the Caribbean later in the week.
