The Government has promised that pounds 140m of the money raised by abolishing grants and bringing in tuition fees for undergraduates will be reinvested in higher education. What this proves is that tuition fees are not "fees" at all, since if I pay "fees" to go to a university, I expect ALL - not some - of that money to be reinvested in university education.
For the Scottish education minister, Brian Wilson, to patronise students by declaring that he would be "disappointed if there was not any student activism around". Well, trust me, Mr Wilson, you are not half as disappointed as the millions of students who voted your government into power ... but, don't worry, we won't make the same mistake twice.
