Parents urged to be proud of apprentices

Parents should be just as proud of their children securing a top apprenticeship as getting in to university, the new shadow Education Secretary, Stephen Twigg, said yesterday.

In his first major public speech since taking on the role, he conceded that Labour in office had focused too much on getting young people into higher education.
