THE Elephant and Castle Leisure Centre provided plenty of atmosphere for last weekend's boxing promotion, the highlight of which the 20-second knock-out of the Ukrainian Alexander Gurov by Vauxhall's Terry Dunstan (below, holding belt). The Vauxhall victor claimed the vacant European cruiserweight crown with his first punch of the fight, thought to be the quickest European title bout in history.

Other local successes included Battersea's middleweight Howard Eastman (above), who defeated another Ukrainian, Vitaly Kapitko, on points. At welterweight, Gilbert Eastman accounted for Ilkestone's Cam Raeside (left, on canvas), the referee stopping the fight in the fifth round.

Interested observers at this south London panorama of pugilism included the promoter Frank Maloney (bottom right).
