The nation basks in an Indian summer, but a pile of name tags lurks malevolently on an even bigger stack of polo shirts and PE shorts. School is back and while the children fret about whether they have the coolest pencil case, their parents are frantically organising bags, labels and badges – assuming they've actually done the shopping.
