IN BRIEF: 'McLibel Two' lose access to transcripts
'McLibel Two' lose
access to transcripts
McDonald's scored a significant victory over two unemployed environmentalists it is suing yesterday when the High Court ruled the burger chain does not have to share transcripts of the proceedings with the defendants.
The company claims that Helen Steel and Dave Morris, the "McLibel Two", distributed a leaflet highly critical of the chain.
McDonalds had promised to share its transcript with the defendants to help ensure a fair trial, but it claims they misused the documents to score "political points" by giving selective extracts to the media.
