Solicitors sign up `no-win, no-fee' case

A solicitors' firm has signed a "no-win, no-fee" agreement with a client. Northampton and Reading-based Shoosmiths & Harrison said it signed the contract "at the stroke of midnight" as the new Conditional Fee Regulations introduced by the Lord Chancellor came into force.

Their client, Mike Brown, from Wokingham, Berkshire, is suing for an ankle injury suffered on a training course. If he wins, Shoosmiths will charge a success fee, based on its costs.
