It used to be that the worst type of "pregnancy art" doing the rounds was belly painting, in which expectant mothers painted anything from the globe to a basketball on their ballooning bump.

Before that it was popular for mums-to-be to recreate Demi Moore's infamous Vanity Fair cover for a photo to stick in the downstairs loo.

But now there is a new fad, one so alarming and frightful that it makes all previous "pregnancy art" look like it deserves its own retrospective in the National Gallery.

Website The Daily has reported on the worrying rise of "sonogram art" in which those precious snaps of foetuses are Photoshopped over the top of his or her mother's tummy before being uploaded to Facebook. And you thought those photos of what people are eating were annoying.
