Two awards for <i>Independent</i> journalists

Simon Kelner, Editor-in-Chief of The Independent, and Johann Hari, a regular columnist in this newspaper, were both honoured today at the prestigious Comment Awards.

Chairman of the judges, Baroness Helena Kennedy QC, said that she chose Mr Kelner for the Chair's Choice award because he had "promoted comment as the heart of The Independent", following the launch of the groundbreaking daily Viewspaper supplement in April.

Mr Hari was presented with the prize for Best Environment Commentator.

The award ceremony, in its second year, is run by media analyst specialists Editorial Intelligence.
