6.2m watch Celebrity Big Brother launch show
Around 6.2 million viewers tuned in to watch contestants enter the Celebrity Big Brother (CBB) house last night, making it the biggest show of the day across the terrestrial channels, Channel 4 said.
The average figures for CBB7 were up 10% against last year's launch, which saw around 5.6 million tuning in.
The figures combine those who saw the show on Channel 4 with viewers who watched the programme on its time-shifted Channel 4 +1 channel.
This year's housemates include hardman Vinnie Jones, Hollywood actor Stephen Baldwin and Katie Price's ex-boyfriend Alex Reid.
The reality show saw off competition from BBC1's Wallander, which aired at the same time and drew an audience of around 5.4 million.
ITV1's Poirot drew an audience of 4.9 million.
BBC2's Top Gear attracted around 5.2 million viewers and Antiques Roadshow, which was also broadcast on BBC1 earlier in the evening, pulled in viewing figures of around 6.1 million.
:: The BBC's new search for a dance superstar So You Think You Can Dance was watched by a peak of 8.1 million viewers on Saturday night, with 6.4 million tuning in on average.
ITV1's FA Cup Live coverage averaged 5.1 million viewers that evening and a 31% share of male viewers, peaking with 6.8 million viewers at 7pm.
