Mid-air collision at the Fairford International Air Tattoo
ONE of two Russian pilots ejects after a mid-air collision between their MiG-29 Fulcrum single-seater jets in front of more than 250,000 people at the Fairford International Air Tattoo, Gloucestershire, yesterday.
Don Breadner, an eyewitness, said: 'Two parachutes appeared in the sky. There was a big plume of smoke above the runway.'
Both pilots were from the Russian Flight Research Institute display team. One has a broken jaw and spinal injuries, the other minor injuries. The planes came down clear of the crowds.
