Scientists were invited last night to submit proposals for investigations into Gulf War Syndrome. The move by the Medical Research Council was the latest step in the Ministry of Defence's programme to investigate illnesses suffered by veterans of the 1991 Gulf war.
Advertisements will be placed in leading science journals asking for proposals to examine two crucial areas: Whether British veterans suffer more ill-health because of Gulf service and, if so, the nature and extent of the risk and whether there are increased reproductive health problems in veterans and, if so, the nature and prevalence of the problems.
