Size isn’t everything, right?

When it comes to Warwick Davis, certainly not. After appearing in Star Wars at age 11, he’s played a series of high-profile roles, including Professor Flitwick in Harry Potter and the titular hero in 1988 film Willow. Now, he’s set to resurrect classic TV quiz show Celebrity Squares.

Featuring particularly uncool famous people?

Uh, no. Broadcast in the early 1970s and then again in the 1990s, the programme was originally hosted by Bob Monkhouse. The name derived from the set’s centrepiece: a three-by-three wall of boxes, each containing a celebrity.

Davis, question master supreme!

The jury’s out on whether we have the next Magnus Magnusson on our hands - Davis has remained tight-lipped about the reason behind the announcement - but one thing is certain: he’s a talented chap. He got into acting when his grandmother heard a radio appeal for short people to appear in Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi – and ended up being cast as lead Ewok Wicket.

And these boxes of celebrities?

Imagine a noughts and crosses grid. Contestants have to guess which of the ’slebs will correctly answer Davis’s questions, make a line of three and voilà!

He’s no stranger to the, uh, small screen, is he?

He became a household name when Ricky Gervais cast him as a megalomaniacal version of himself in sitcom mockumentary Life’s Too Short. According to Gervais, the programme was “a cross between Extras, Curb Your Enthusiasm and One Foot in the Grave, but with a dwarf”. While of Davis, he said: “Pound for pound, Warwick Davis is one of the funniest men I know.”

Any other achievements of note?

Victory in the 2013 Comic Relief celebrity episode of The Great British Bake Off, no less! All this acting business aside, he makes a mean lemon berry gâteau…
