Aphex Twin mastermind Richard D James is just not willing to accept society’s theories blindly.

In fact, he thinks the September 11 attacks on New York were "absolutely" an inside job, after watching YouTube documentaries on the subject.

He also hasn’t ruled out the idea of The Illuminati, an age-old conspiracy theory which claims that there is a global elite who control the world.

"When you follow stuff on the internet about Illuminati, New World Order, aliens, even if none of it's true, it's just a thousand times better than any science fiction film that's ever been written," he said.

"I do believe pretty much all of it. You can't only believe things which can be proven. It's boring. Loads of things are unproven, but it doesn't stop you believing them."

The musician – who last month released "Syro", Aphex Twin’s first album since 2001 – said that he has tried drugs in the past, but considers them "pretty s**t".

However, he’s open to using psychedelic herbal drink ayahuasca so that he can "meet some aliens".

Which, incidentally, is pretty easy to do, he says.

"You can actually meet aliens whenever you want to," James told Q magazine. "You just need to ask, and they’ll appear. I know, because I’ve done it once and it was totally f**king scary. I’m not ready for that yet. I’ve got other stuff to do."
