Barack Obama gatecrashed a couple's wedding at a California golf course after practicing his putting.

Guests at the wedding, which took place at Torrey Pines Golf Course, were shocked to see the POTUS come over after finishing up at the 18th hole, where the ceremony was taking place.

Videographer Sammie Starkey captured the video, which sees Obama finishing up the end of the course before realising the loud cheers are coming from the wedding party who are gathered nearby.

He strides over and begins shaking everyone’s hand, before asking to see the bride and groom.

He embraces the bride and shakes the grooms hand before wishing them both good luck in their marriage.

Starkey recounts on his blog how he had a suspicion someone important might be playing the course when he arrived at the venue as there was a line of police cars and black SUVs there.

Secret service said that every guest attending the wedding had to be scanned by a metal detector for the President’s safety.

“We were so lucky to have captured this moment on video, and I'm so grateful for the experience,” said Starkey.
