BALMORAL CASTLE

7 October: The Duke of Edinburgh this morning attended the Inauguration Ceremony of the Birkhall Steam Engine at the Grampian Transport Museum, Alford.

His Royal Highness was received on arrival by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for Aberdeenshire (Captain Colin Farquharson of Whitehouse).

KENSINGTON PALACE

7 October: The Princess of Wales today visited Mid Glamorgan and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for Mid Glamorgan (Mr Murray McLaggan).

Her Royal Highness this morning opened Kevin Ryan Court, Heol SO Davies, Georgetown, Merthyr Tydfil.

The Princess of Wales subsequently opened y Bwthyn, Pontypridd, the Continuing Care Centre for the terminally ill.

Finally, Her Royal Highness, Patron, the Trust for Sick Children in Wales, opened the Children's Centre at East Glamorgan District Hospital.

Captain Edward Musto RM was in attendance.

7 October: The Princess Royal, Chancellor, University of London, this morning inaugurated the Convex Supercomputing Service at the University of London Computer Centre, 20 Guildford Street, London WC1.

Her Royal Highness afterwards attended a Lunch for GAP - International Projects for Youth Exchange at the House of Lords.

The Princess Royal, Patron, British Executive Service Overseas, this afternoon attended the Annual General Meeting at the Department of Trade and Industry Conference Hall, London SW1.

Mrs Malcolm Innes was in attendance.

7 October: The Duchess of Gloucester, Patron, National Asthma Campaign, this afternoon met Branch Members and Volunteers at the Campaign's Headquarters at Providence Place, London N1. In the evening Her Royal Highness, Patron, the Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths (Cot Death Research and Support) opened the First International Cot Death Bazaar at the Commonwealth Institute, London W8.

Mrs Suan McCorquodale was in attendance.

ROYAL ENGAGEMENTS

The Princess of Wales, President, the Royal Marsden Hospital, opens the new clinical block at the Royal Marsden Hospital, London SW3. The Duke of York attends a Cartoon Exhibition and Auction in aid of Care at the Mall Galleries, London SW1. The Princess Royal, President, Riding for the Disabled Association, attends a Council Meeting, Saddlers Hall, London EC2; and delivers the Wooldridge Memorial Lecture at the British Veterinary Association 1992 Congress, International Conference & Exhibition Centre, Harrogate.

Changing of the Guard

The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment mounts The Queen's Life Guard at Horse Guards, 11am; 1st Battalion The King's Regiment mounts The Queen's Guard, at Buckingham Palace, 11.30am, band provided by the The King's Regiment.
