Cristiano Ronaldo has opened his door to a camera crew this Christmas and offered a Cribs-esque insight into his home.

The Real Madrid forward’s mansion in La Finca, one of Madrid’s most exclusive neighbourhoods, is your typical £3.9m luxury estate, complete with lavish furnishing and top-of-the-range mod-cons.

The front door itself has the initials ‘CR’ embossed into its metalwork, presumably so he doesn’t accidentally try to get into next door’s while tired and emotional in the early hours.

Ronaldo’s room, apparently “one of the most important things in his life”, features a leopard print bedspread which the 30-year-old confesses to lying in for “nearly half a day”.

"You know, to perform good, to be at a good level, you have to rest good,” says the former Manchester United winger. “So I'm always resting."

He claims that this rest, coupled with the meals prepared for him by the chefs he employs, are the main reason why he stays in such excellent shape. You imagine being one of the world’s leading professional athletes helps too.

Ultimately though, the most important thing in life is to “be happy”, as Ronaldo reminds us while kicking back in his sprawling back yard with some of the grandest domestic Christmas decorations you’ll see this holiday season.

Somehow, we think ‘being happy’ is made a bit easier when you live in a place like this.
