Crystal Renay has shared images of herself one week after giving birth in an effort to promote body positivity among women whose bodies have been changed by childbirth.

The business woman, who is married to the singer Ne-Yo, shared an image of her stomach a week after undergoing a caesarean section to deliver her son, Shaffer Chimere J. Renay underwent an emergency c-section after complications during labour. She displayed her scars and stretchmarks on Instagram this week in an attempt to demystify the procedure and reassure other women.

In a caption alongside the picture, she wrote: “One week postpartum. Being on bed rest for 85 per cent of my pregnancy and not being able to work out the entire time was truly challenging and hard on my body. Then to get a C-section on top of that was a major setback. My body isn't what it once was but that's ok because now in the next coming weeks, after I’m properly healed, I can share my #SNAPBACK journey and progress with you guys.”

In a second post, Renay shared a video to show how the rest of her body has changed after childbirth.

It usually takes longer for women to recover from a Caesarean section than those who give birth vaginally. NHS guidelines recommend women rest as much as possible in the first few weeks after giving birth, with recovery typically taking up to six weeks.
