Dame Shirley Bassey: Women shouldn't do 'men's jobs' because they have 'periods and hormones'

Dame Shirley Bassey has seemingly said women having “periods and hormones” means they should not do “men’s jobs”.

The 78-year-old reportedly told The Daily Mail it is “dangerous to mess with science” and claimed positions in the fire service, police force or army should only be held by men.

“If I was flying with a female pilot… I’d be very worried. Women have periods and hormones, and that bothers me about women who want men’s jobs.”

According to Dame Shirley, women are also going "a step too far" in trying to be cleverer than men, or as clever, because gender inequality is intrinsic in human nature.

“The gene goes so deep, it goes right back to the caveman days: man must have control. Women should not change it, because we’ve tried and we’ve emasculated men.”

Dame Shirley also said it’s important women stay feminine and men remain masculine, adding that men being “house-husbands” is wrong.

The singer, who originally hails from Cardiff has had a successful career for sixty years. She now splits her time between Monaco and London.
