If there’s any famous person out there you can count on to make you smile, its perennial Twitter prankster Sir Patrick Stewart.

Whether he’s gently mocking David Cameron’s image-esque photo of him phoning Obama to discuss Ukraine by patching in on the call with a packet of wetwipes, or reclining in an empty bathtub dressed in a full lobster suit, his hilarious online antics have become something of a phenomenon.

Almost everything he posts goes viral within hours of it travelling into our Twitter feeds – including this most recent image (above) of him juggling skeeballs with his acting partner in crime, Sir Ian McKellen, taken during a trip to Coney Island back in 2012.

And then there was that time when The Guardian falsely outed him as gay.

Stewart was one of many stars to congratulate actress Ellen Page when she came out at a Las Vegas conference for LGBT teens in February.

Her bravery inspired a wealth of support from her peers, and several blogs praising her decision occurred. Including one very positive column by Jane Czyzselska, which mistakenly cited Stewart as an example of a gay actor who cheered her on for her public disclosure.

“Some gay people, such as Sir Patrick Stewart, think Page’s coming out speech is newsworthy because a high-profile and surprisingly politically aware young actress has decided not to play by the rules that so many closeted Hollywood actors are advised to follow if they are to enjoy mainstream success,” Czyzselska wrote.

As happens to us journalists from time-to-time, Czyzselska accidentally missed one crucial point: Stewart is not gay and recently married jazz singer Sunny Ozell in September 2013 (by McKellen, no less).

And so he wrote to them: “Well, @guardian that makes a nice change… At least I didn’t wake up to the internet telling me I was dead again.”

He followed up his tweet with this: “But @guardian I have, like, five or even SEVEN hetero friends and we totally drink beer and eat lots of chicken wings!”

And then promptly broke the internet. Want an instant happiness boost? Click through the gallery above to see Sir Stewart’s most hilarious viral moments in all their glory.
