Hawthornden Prize
The Hawthornden Prize for Literature has been won by Mr Tim Pears for his novel In the Place of Fallen Leaves. Mr AN Wilson presented the prize yesterday at the National Portrait Gallery, London WC2. Lord Quinton (chairman), Professor John Bayley, Mr PJ Kavanagh, Mr Derwent May, Dr Caroline Moore and Mr David Pryce-Jones were the judges.
