Idris Elba welcomes baby son: Luther and The Wire star gives newborn hardest name ever

What else did we expect from the offspring of Luther and Stringer Bell?

It is indeed a Good Friday for Britain’s genuine hardest man (move over, Dyer), Idris Elba – the swaggering star of hit dramas Luther and The Wire.

The actor’s girlfriend, Naiyana Garth, has given birth to his first son.

And he’s given him a suitably tough name, too: Winston.

Yes, as in Ray. As in Churchill.

“My Son Winston Elba was born yesterday..Truly Amazing :-)” he said, tweeting a photograph of his gigantic finger being clutched by the tiny hand of a newborn.

Elba is already the father to an 11-year-old daughter, Isan, from a previous marriage.

He was also recently confirmed for this year’s Glastonbury festival, where he’ll no doubt be spotting serial killers in crowds of 80,000 and tracking them down using spurious evidence based on David Bowie lyrics.
