Johnny Depp and Amber Heard's home was 'visited by police' after domestic incident call

Officers concluded 'a crime did not occur'

Police responded to a domestic incident call at the home of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard on the day she claims he threw a phone at her, but found “no evidence of any crime”, according to reports.

Heard filed for divorce from Depp earlier this week citing irreconcilable differences. On Friday, she was granted a temporary restraining order against Depp after alleging he had been violent during their marriage.

Appearing at court with a bruise on her face, Heard claimed in court documents that Depp threw a phone at her face last weekend.

In a statement, Los Angeles police reportedly confirmed they responded to a domestic incident call. It was not clear whether the officers went to the house before or after the alleged incident with the phone.

“On May 21, 2016, officers responded to a domestic incident radio call. The person reporting the crime did not insist on a report and no report was warranted," police said in the statement to People magazine.

"There was no evidence of any crime. A crime did not occur so the officers left the scene and left a business card."

The LAPD spokesperson added that if there had been signs of abuse police would have investigated regardless.

In court documents, Heard alleged an incident of domestic violence took place on May 21, claiming specifically that Depp threw a phone that hit her cheek and eye “with great force”.

Heard also claimed Depp was abusive towards her on other occasions during their 15-month-marriage.

“During the entirety of our relationship, Johnny has been verbally and physically abusive to me," she wrote.

"I endured excessive emotional, verbal and physical abuse from Johnny, which has included angry, hostile, humiliating and threatening assaults to me whenever I questioned his authority or disagreed with him.”

Depp has not commented on her allegations but in court documents his lawyer, Laura Wasser, claimed: “Amber is attempting to secure a premature financial resolution by alleging abuse.

"Her current application for a temporary restraining order along with her financial requests appears to be in response to the negative media attention she received earlier this week.”

The Independent has approached representatives for both Heard and Depp.
