Lindsay Lohan’s much-publicised troubled life has taken another sad turn, after the star admitted that she suffered a miscarriage while filming her reality show last year.

She made the announcement during the final episode of the programme, entitled Lindsay, which airs via Oprah’s Own network. The show started just four days after she left rehab last year.

Lohan told audiences as a way of explaining why she had recently missed days from filming.

“No one knows this; I had a miscarriage for those two weeks that I took off. It's a very long story,” she said tearfully.

“That's why on the show when it says she doesn't want to come down, I couldn't move, I was sick. Mentally, that messes with you.”

The trailer for the show had, arguably insensitively, given a hint of a dramatic confessional reveal, as well as relaying Lohan’s reaction of the release of her reported sex list – which featured stars including Joaquin Phoenix, Heath Ledger and James Franco. Her friends sip champagne as she discusses her struggles with alcoholism, describing her addiction as a “f*****-up scary disease”.

“It was not only humiliating," said the star, "but just mean. That was part of my Betty Ford. It’s step number five, or number eight. It’s your sexual inventory and that was in my Betty Ford book, so that was really personal to my sponsor. You write that for your sponsor.”

She said that she finds the show difficult viewing because it hones in on such a tumultuous period of her life.

'Watching this series, I just know how I felt at that moment and I can relate to that girl, which sounds kind of crazy, but I'm like, ‘Oh my god, this is really sad. Who's helping her?’ ‘There was a lot going on in my life then,” she explained. I cried so many times watching it. Because I don’t see it as me - it’s strange. It’s weird.”

The Mean Girls actress revealed that the show’s producers “love this shit when I cry”.

And it seems as if the 27-year-old’s mother, Dina, has taken issue with the show, tweeting Oprah: “Oprah, call me.” The post has since been removed.
