An MSNBC anchor has been heard making suggesting comments about Melania Trump, apparently without realising his mic was on, during a live broadcast.

MSNBC was covering Donald Trump’s victory speech after winning the Indiana primary when a man, reported to be Hardball presenter Chris Matthews by Variety, can be heard speaking at the same time as Brian Williams.

As footage of Trump’s wife Melania is shown walking to the podium, the voice was heard saying: “Did you see her walk? Runway walk. My God is that great.

“I could watch that runway show.”

MSNBC did not respond to a request for comment. A spokesperson for Melania gave the following statement to Variety: “Melania Trump is an accomplished businesswoman and entrepreneur in her own right, achieving tremendous success in a variety of industries, including an illustrious modeling career, as well as being a dedicated wife and mother. It is unfortunate to see the continuous inaccuracies and misrepresentations made by the media of Mrs Trump as anything less than the independently successful woman that she is.”
