Labour MP dies in hospital
Politicians have paid tribute to the former Scotland Office minister David Cairns, who has died aged 44.
The Labour MP for Inverclyde fell ill eight weeks ago with acute pancreatitis.
He died at 11pm on Monday at the Royal Free Hospital in north London. He leaves behind his partner, Dermot Kehoe.
The Labour leader Ed Miliband said: "David will be missed beyond measure as a minister, as an MP, as a friend and a colleague."
