Lady Gaga warns public not to 'kill the superstar'

Lady Gaga says Amy Winehouse's death is a lesson not to "kill the superstar".

The 'Edge of Glory' singer spoke of her respect for Amy - who passed away at her home in Camden, north London, on Saturday - but warned her tragic death at the age of just 27 is a stark lesson to the public.

Speaking on US radio station Omaha 94.1, she said: "It's really devastating and I think it's a lesson to the world - don't kill the superstar. Take care of her. Take care of her soul."

Gaga, 25, also revealed she used to have black hair reminiscent of the 'Rehab' hitmaker's trademark beehive style, and would get mistaken for her around the time her album, 'Back to Black', exploded in 2006.

She added: "I was nobody when she was first coming out. I had really dark hair and all the time on the street people would go, 'Amy!' And they would go, ''Back to Black.'' They'd scream at me.

"I loved her and I just remember feeling like I wasn't alone because she was so different and she was so special."

Gaga has also paid tribute to the singer on twitter, writing she "changed pop music forever".

Amy was cremated yesterday in a private Jewish ceremony in London attended by her family, including parents Mitch and Janis, brother Alex, boyfriend Reg Traviss, and a host of close friends such as producer Mark Ronson - who worked with her on 'Back to Black' - and Kelly Osbourne.
