Lemmy desperate for Jeff Beck duet
Friday 11 November 2011
Lemmy has been trying to collaborate with Jeff Beck "for three years".
The Motorhead frontman wanted to work with the Yardbirds rock guitarist after he gave him an idea to record a solo record - but then he "vanished".
Speaking at the Orange Amplification Classic Rock Roll of Honour 2011 at London's The Roundhouse, he told BANG Showbiz: "I want to corner Jeff Beck tonight, I've been trying to get hold of him for three years. I want him to work on my solo album. He gave me the idea for it and then vanished.
"He's one of the three best guitarists in the country. He fully deserves to be recognised for it, too."
But if the 65-year-old outspoken musician does get to work with the rock legend - who picked up the Living Legend accolade at the ceremony - then he won't be paying much attention to how their material does in the charts, which he regards as "s**t".
He added: "The charts have always been s**t. You always had to fight the charts, it wasn't important. The important thing is what people like to see and what they like to hear and you get 185,000 people turn up at festivals. And people say rock 'n' roll is dead? I don't think so."
