Religion: A cautionary tale from Father Ted

The revelation that Argentinian Bishop Fernando Bargallo had been caught on film frolicking in the sea with a bikini-clad woman, was not just another scandal for the Catholic Church, it was also a case of life imitating art.

The event bore a similarity to a scene in Father Ted where the much-feared Bishop Brennan accidentally leaves behind a copy of a holiday video, in which he is seen running around on the beach with a mistress (and a love-child).

It's unclear how popular the show is in Argentina, but Bargallo might now be wishing he had heeded its warning...
