Obituary: Harry Allen
Harry Allen, executioner, died Fleetwood Lancashire, 14 August, aged 80. Britain's last official hangman, he was a lifelong supporter of capital punishment. Performed nearly 100 executions (including the controversial hangings of Derek Bentley and James Hanratty), and assisted at 100 others.
