Choiseul Crested Pigeon (Microgoura meeki)
The Choiseul Pigeon was endemic to Choiseul in the Solomon Islands, writes Ceri Levy. The skins that survive in various collections don't really give a clue as to how the bird's crest would have appeared when erect, but Ralph's interpretation is what counts. The pigeon has not been seen since 1904, and is considered extinct.
