If I weren't talking to you...

I'd be back inside the pub drinking another pint.

A phrase I use far too often is...

"Fantastic".

The most surprising thing that's ever happened to me was...

Meeting the love of my life when I'd only ever gone out with any other girl for three weeks. I fell in love with my wife straight away.

A common misperception of me is...

That I'm the boy next door. I'm just as full of anger as anyone else.

I am not a politician but if I were...

I would review the education system and health service. In this country people chose where to live depending upon the quality of schools in the area. Standards need to be improved everywhere so everyone is given a decent chance.

I'm good at...

Pretending I'm good at things when I'm really just a jack of all trades. I'm a blagger.

I'm very bad at...

So, so many things! I am very bad at telling myself I'm good at something and at congratulating myself.

The ideal night out is...

Mine has changed as I have grown older. Now it's going to a fantastic pub with no music, no stag nights, sitting with my best mates and our partners. I've had the same 14 best mates since I was six. It's great when we get together.

In moments of weakness...

I just completely lose my head.

You know me as a TV presenter but in truer life I'd have been...

A vet in the countryside fixing a gerbil's leg, or a golfer. When I was a kid I wanted to be a golfer so one year my dad said if you want to be one you have to act like one. He took me to play golf for three whole days in a row. After that I went back to school. Another time he enrolled me into the army cadets. I changed my mind about that too but I still like golf. A lot of sports presenters are frustrated sports stars.

The best age to be is...

The age you are.

In a nutshell, my philosophy is...

Live for the moment. Just enjoy the time. Since I've had children I love enjoying time with them and thinking about their future.
