The Queen holds an Investiture at the Palace of Holyroodhouse; and attends a dinner with the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Regiment at the Assembly Rooms, Edinburgh. The Duke of Edinburgh, Chancellor, attends the Opening Ceremony of the International Congress on Industrial and Applied Mathematics and later attends a dinner at Edinburgh University. The Prince of Wales attends the Memorial Service for King Hussein of Jordan at St Paul's Cathedral. The Princess Royal, Patron, Leicester Cathedral Millennium Appeal, visits the Guildhall, Guildhall Lane, Leicester; as Patron, Leicester Cathedral Millennium Appeal, visits the Cathedral at Peacock Lane, Leicester; as President, Royal Yachting Association, renames the lake at Watermead Country Park "The John Merricks Lake", Fillingate, Syston, Leicestershire; as President, National Riding Festival, visits the Royal Show at the National Agricultural Centre, Stoneleigh Park, Kenilworth, Warwickshire; and, as Patron, National Association of Victim Support Schemes, opens the National Conference 1999 at Warwick University, Coventry, West Midlands. The Duchess of Gloucester, Honarary Liveryman, the Worshipful Company of Gold and Silver Wyre Drawers, attends a Court Lunch at Saddlers' Hall, London EC2.

Changing of the Guard

The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment mounts the Queen's Life Guard at Horse Guards, 11am; 2nd Battalion Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment mounts the Queen's Guard, at Buckingham Palace, 11.30am, band provided by the Welsh Guards.
