Trinny Woodall offers outdated Christmas party fashion advice: 'Don't expose cleavage as you don't want to be ogled'

Trinny Woodall has issued some rather outdated fashion advice for what to wear to the office Christmas party, including the stark warning that women shouldn’t wear anything revealing for fear of damaging their career prospects.

According to the What Not to Wear presenter, for most women, making that all-important decision is one of the “thorniest issues of the year”. Accordingly, the outfit a woman decides upon is something they will be judged by in the workplace “for months to come”.

She told the Daily Mail anything “revealing” is a big no-no as it can damage a woman’s career prospects, for example by exposing cleavage they’re opening themselves up to being “ogled”.

“It’s not the moment to don a cleavage bra, as you don’t want to be ogled at, and I think it can take away your standing.

“…The office party is not the time to dress the sexiest in your life.”

Woodall also hints at a preference to freezing rather than committing a fashion crime, believing that one of the “biggest errors a woman can make” is wearing a coat.

“They [women] have a phenomenally fabulous outfit and they shove their work coat on over the top. Why?

“I know it’s cold in winter, but going to the party, leaving the party, getting into transport, is still a part of the night out and you should look good.”

Never fear, she advises that if the cold gets too much, women can hang their coat over their shoulders “like a cape” to preserve body temperature.

The 51-year-old presented BBC's What Not to Wear with her counterpart Susanna Constantine for four years, before moving to ITV to host Trinny & Susannah Undress.

The pair also were fashion advisors on The Oprah Winfrey Show and have written a number of fashion books.
