Police hunt widow's

'cowardly' killer

Police were yesterday carrying out door-to-door inquiries in the hunt for the killer of an elderly widow who suffered a "very violent and cowardly attack".

Margaret Bremner, 78, was found on Saturday lying in a pool of blood in her living room in Leslie, Fife. She died two hours later in hospital.

Police said it was a "particularly horrific crime" and appealed to the public to come forward with any information. They believed Mrs Bremner may have been killed in a robbery that went wrong.
