Race campaigner Narayan dies

THE BLACK rights activist and lawyer Rudy Narayan, who was accused of playing a part in sparking the 1995 Brixton riots, has died of liver disease, aged 60.

Born in Guyana, Mr Narayan qualified at the English Bar but was disbarred in 1994. Divorced, he leaves two daughters, Sharmeen, 28, and Yasmeen, 25.
