POWERFUL HURRICANE Gert is crossing the Atlantic on a course that could threaten Bermuda, according to the US National Hurricane Centre. It is thought Gert could reach Bermuda tomorrow.

The hurricane's maximum sustained winds have weakened to about 130mph from 140mph but forecasters did not expect it would weaken significantly or dissipate before drawing near Bermuda.
