LIVERPOOL, the holders, came back from 2-0 down to earn a 2-2 draw away to Bolton Wanderers in the third round of the FA Cup yesterday.

John McGinlay and Mark Seagraves scored for Bolton in the first 22 minutes. An own goal by Mark Winstanley put Liverpool back in contention and Ian Rush scored a late equaliser. The winners of the replay will travel to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the fourth round.

In another third-round tie, Roy Keane and Neil Webb scored Nottingham Forest's goals in a 2-1 victory over Southampton, who had led through Matthew Le Tissier.

Jeff Probyn has been recalled to the England rugby union team at the age of 36. Probyn replaces Victor Ubogu for the international against France at Twickenham on 16 January.

The England cricket team had little success on the opening day of the first match of their tour of India. Delhi, the Ranji Trophy champions, were 190 for 3 at the close of play.
