The original Viking pictures of the Cydonia complex were low-resolution. Better images were obtained by Mars Global Surveyor, and NASA made sure to release them immediately to address claims they they might have been doctored. Also, are the Europeans meant to be in on this conspiracy too, via the Mars Express probe?
