DISNEYLAND Paris is expected soon to build a second theme park - similar to Universal Studios' park in Florida. Plans for a pounds 450m movie theme park have been tabled by Euro Disney and a favourable decision is expected shortly by local councils east of Paris.

The new park, part of the original plans for the site, should be open for the 10th anniversary of Disneyland Paris on 12 April 2002.

The second phase of the development - Val d'Europe, a new town with 1,600 homes, a shopping centre, light industry and 30,000 square metres of offices - is being built.

The president of the syndicate of five local councils in the area, Charles Boetto, said negotiations on the new theme park were well advanced and an announcement could be expected soon. More than 2,000 jobs would be created.
