Webber left fuming after Vettel ignores team instructions

Sebastian Vettel was left to apologise to Red Bull team-mate Mark Webber yesterday after defying team orders not to overtake the Australian as he went on to win the Malaysian Grand Prix.

Having already asked his team to make Webber move, Vettel, above, overtook him with 13 laps remaining, despite the pair being told to hold the positions after their final round of pit stops.

"I did a big mistake today," the German said. "I didn't ignore the order on purpose, but I messed up in that situation. I took the lead from Mark, which I can see he is upset about, but I want to be honest and apologise."

Lewis Hamilton finished third, his first podium finish with Mercedes. MORE

Froome speeds to 'mini Tour' title

A fine solo ride from Chris Froome helped the Briton take the Critérium International in France yesterday. Team Sky colleague, Australian Richie Porte, held the leader's jersey before Froome's final blitz. MORE

Burns inspires Hull KR to take points

Five tries in a strong second-half showing helped Hull KR beat Castleford 26-22 to strengthen their hold on a play-off position. Travis Burns went over and also kicked three goals as the hosts recovered from an interval deficit to take the points. MORE

Butland content to wait for his chance

Jack Butland is happy to remain with England Under-21s as he awaits a second full cap. "I can't complain," the goalkeeper said. "I feel privileged to be involved with the seniors and Under-21s.

Rooney is 'changed man', says Lescott

Joleon Lescott says Wayne Rooney is a different player from the temperamental forward who was sent off on England's last visit to Montenegro. "Wayne has matured," the defender said ahead of tomorrow's return. "He will be professional enough to deal with anything they throw at him." MORE

England resumed the third Test last night fighting to avoid a series defeat. The hosts ended the third day on 35-3 in their second innings, a lead of 274 after England were bowled out for 204 in Auckland. Only Matt Prior, with 73, passed 50 in a dismal showing by the tourists. MORE
