Train tragedy of a farewell kiss

A woman who slipped under a train as she ran alongside it saying goodbye to her boyfriend was in a critical condition last night after surgeons lost their battle to save her right leg.

Jennifer Dean, 33, a charity worker from Balham, south London, was trapped under the carriage for over an hour at Paddington station, central London, on Thursday night while medics treated her and firefighters struggled to shift the train.
