Boy dies after rugby game

A SCHOOLBOY died in hospital yesterday from head injuries suffered playing rugby.

Matthew Mason, 17, was hurt during a game at Tavistock College, south Devon, on Wednesday. He was representing Shebbear College, an independent school in north Devon, where his parents live. His parents said they would be 'horrified' if an inquiry resulted in blame being apportioned. Their son had died 'doing what he loved best' and, in line with his wishes, his organs would be offered for transplant.
