Body found after house fire

Police have launched an appeal for information after a body was found at the scene of a house fire.

Nottinghamshire Police said several nearby properties were evacuated during the blaze, which broke out near Newark town centre at about 3.30pm yesterday.

The body, which was found inside the property in Kings Road, has not yet been identified.

A police spokesman said: "A number of nearby roads were closed and several properties were evacuated while firefighters put out the blaze.

"Fire officers and police are investigating the blaze in an effort to establish a cause."
