Boy, 14, shot in leg in Croxteth

A 14-year-old boy is recovering in hospital after being shot in the leg, police said today.

The teenager was attacked in the Croxteth area of Liverpool at around 10.30pm last night.

He was taken to hospital where he is expected to make a full recovery.

Merseyside Police said five youths were arrested close to the scene of the attack, on Storrington Avenue, and a firearm was recovered.

A spokeswoman said: "At this time the motive for the shooting is unclear.

"High visibility patrols have been stepped up in the area and the scene has been cordoned off for forensic examinations."
