Bristol nightclub 'murder' investigation launched as man dies after 3am assault

Police have launched a murder investigation following the death of a man who was assaulted in Bristol in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The man, in his thirties, was taken to hospital following a "disturbance" in a nightclub in the Stokes Croft area of the city but died two hours later, Avon and Somerset Police said.

The force, which is calling for anyone with information on the incident to come forward, said the disturbance in the Blue Mountain Club in Moon Street took place at around 3am.

A spokesman said: "A man who was assaulted was taken hospital with serious injuries but died at about 5am from his injuries.

"We have a number of areas cordoned off, in connection with the investigation and our enquiries are continuing.

"However we can confirm that the death of the man in his 30s is being treated as murder."
