A man has been charged with the murder of a teenager who was stabbed in a residential street.

Luke Jeffrey, 18, from Linden Road, Bognor Regis, West Sussex, was found with serious injuries in Alexandra Road in Chichester just after 9pm on Friday.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: "He was initially taken to St Richard's Hospital in Chichester and then transferred to Southampton General Hospital where he sadly died at around 1am on Saturday morning (March 12)."

Unemployed Samuel Morgan, 19, of Adelaide Road, Chichester, has been charged with murder and possession of an offensive weapon (namely a knife) in a public place. He was remanded in custody to appear at Crawley Magistrates' Court later.

Another man, aged 20, also from Chichester, who was arrested on suspicion of murder was released from custody on Sunday afternoon without charge.
