A former police officer today admitted tipping off a suspect about a potential raid.

Grania Hale, 34, was suspended by Sussex Police after being charged with misconduct in public office in August.

She pleaded guilty to the charge when she appeared at Maidstone Crown Court in Kent, a spokeswoman for Sussex Police said.

The court heard that in her role as a serving police officer she alerted a member of the public to the fact that a search warrant was likely to be executed.

She was a constable with the neighbourhood response team at Haywards Heath but resigned shortly after being charged

Hale, of Strawberry Hill in Newbury, Berkshire, will be sentenced at the same court on November 18.
