Police officers in hospital after being hit by car in 'attempted murder' in Glasgow

A police officer is in intensive care after she and her colleague were hit by a car in what investigators are treating as attempted murder.

The 30-year-old woman and a male colleague, 31, had been called to the Drumchapel area of Glasgow when they were attacked.

"They had stopped a car to speak to the occupants," a spokesperson for Police Scotland said. "The car then deliberately reversed and struck both officers, leaving them seriously injured.

"Emergency services were called to the scene and the officers were taken to hospital."

Police are appealing for information on the incident in Banner Drive at around 11.15pm on Sunday, when the attackers fled.

Detective Inspector Ian Hylands said a blue Nissan Qashqai seen at the location was been found badly damaged by fire two miles away in Scotstoun.

"We have yet to confirm if that is the same vehicle," he added. "Despite the damage, forensic officers will carry out a comprehensive examination of the car.

"Everything that can be done to locate the suspects is being done but I would like to appeal to anyone who may have seen the incident or who has any knowledge of the vehicle or the suspects to contact us.

"Two police officers, in responding to an incident to help protect the public, have been badly injured. Help us find those responsible.”
